“Happy are those in whose heart are the highways to Zion”
(cfr. Ps 83,6)
May the Lord give you His peace!
Dear pilgrim, regardless of your country of origin, in the holy town of Jerusalem you will find a friendly welcome.
Our Franciscan fraternity will gladly welcome you in this “mystical Garden”, the Hermitage of Gethsemane. The sons of St. Francis of Assisi are custodians of this place that belongs to God and to all those who wish to seek and pursue silence and peace, helping others to meet the Lord in prayers, in times of peace or in spiritual combat. Regardless of the country of origin or the spiritual stages one is going through, at present as well as in the past, God seeks mankind with passion! He returns to walk along with His Children, weaving bonds of love!
When you come to these holy places, we wish you can perceive the Face of God, recognize His presence and experience His peace, may you also visit the holy places with children’s wonder and let the divine making of this Land enthral you, and may you follow in the footsteps of pilgrims longing to ascend the ancient and yet forever new paths to Jerusalem.
And when you arrive here, at our Lord’s favourite place, we wish you can feel and enjoy the passing of God in the sound of sheer silence of the Holy Land, of which you are the image.
And when you return to your country, make sure you treasure and caringly look after this new presence of God within you, take it with you where you live - just the way you are - to whoever you come across, to your family members and friends…The Lord has decided to dwell in our humanity, which is the new “Holy Land”.
May the Lord go in and out of your dwell without asking for permission.
Enjoy your way!
